Report: Patriots' Hernandez Has Hip Surgery

BOSTON (CBS) - Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez underwent hip surgery this offseason, reports the Hartford Courant.

Hernandez was on crutches this weekend when he attended a football camp in Connecticut organized by his brother, D.J.. When kids asked him why he needed crutches, he simply responded "hip surgery."

Hernandez missed the final two games of his rookie season with a hip injury. He finished 2010 with 45 receptions for 563 yards and six touchdowns. He had only one catch for four yards in the Patriots 28-21 playoff loss to the New York Jets.
