Roof Collapse Concerns: Search & Rescue Teams On Standby

FRAMINGHAM (CBS) – The state’s Emergency Management Agency Bunker is open for the storm and there are a few people on duty who aren’t usually there.

State building inspectors and a FEMA urban search and rescue team are on standby in the event of a serious roof collapse.

WBZ-TV’s Sera Congi reports

The changeover from snow to freezing rain has increased concerns.

“Changeover is the key,” MEMA’s Peter Judge told WBZ-TV, “because all of a sudden that snow can act like a sponge as this rain comes down, it’s not going to blow off, it’s going to be absorbed by the snow that’s up there and it’s going to put added stress on a lot of these structures.”
