LAWRENCE (CBS) – Lawrence mayor William Lantigua suspended three public works employees Tuesday for allegedly dumping snow into a canal that runs into the Merrimack River.

He said one worker ordered the other two to illegally dump the snow. Police are now investigating.

The suspensions come one day after Lantigua caught a team of trucks dumping 42 loads of snow into the Merrimack.

why didn’t he take action sooner instead of counting 42 trucks polluting the river?

How do 2 guys dump 42 loads of snow ?
If they were really that efficient, he should have promoted them !

Don’t dump frozen water in water? Guess where the Merrimack goes? The ocean. So the salt from the street will contaminate the ocean with… salt? Over a million gallons of oil a day naturally seep into the ocean every day. A little snow with a few drops of oil won’t hurt anything.

Stop wasting money. Send more trucks!

Bill is right. What a waste of time and effort. This is an extraordinary winter and we must do what is necessary to remove snow. No tree hugger responses please. Just a photo op for a very suspiscious mayor.
