WEATHER ALERT: Widespread Snow Wednesday | Forecast | BlogRadar | Weather App | Share Photos | Closings

BOSTON (CBS) — A water line ruptured in Boston’s Downtown Crossing, spilling water all throughout the area Tuesday morning.

The entire area at Downtown Crossing – Washington and Winter Streets — is shut down.

Officials say it is not a water main break, rather a break on a private fire service to a building.

The water, the snow that fell over the past few days and the likelihood that everything will freeze up is expected to cause some major headaches.

Stay tuned as more information becomes available.

One of the workers said it was NOT a water main break, but they were still trying to figure out what it was at about 8:00am.
