2 More Local Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan
BOSTON (CBS) - It was a somber day for military families across the region Thursday. Two local families just received word they lost loved ones in Afghanistan, on the same day a third family welcomed home their fallen son.
Mike Geary, a 2009 graduate of Pinkerton Academy who joined the Marines after graduation, was killed in Afghanistan. No details about the circumstances of Geary's death were immediately available.
Geary, 20, was from Derry, New Hampshire.
In Salem, Mass., news spread of the death of army medic James Ayube, at the hands of a suicide bomber. He was a 2003 graduate of Salem High School, and graduated from Bunker Hill Community College in 2007.
Ayube had previously served in Iraq before his deployment to Afghanistan this fall.
Meanwhile in Sudbury, the family of Lt. Scott Milley welcomed the fallen soldier home. His casket arrived at Hanscom Air Force Base Thursday morning, and was driven by motorcade to Sudbury. Thousands of people waving flags lined the procession route.
