3rd Man Arrested In Mattapan Murders

BOSTON (CBS) -- A third person has been placed under arrest in the murders of four people in Mattapan earlier this year.

Edward Washington, 30, of Dorchester was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon.

Police say Washington will be charged with four counts of murder and one count each of armed assault with intent to murder, home invasion, armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.

He will be arraigned on the charges in Dorchester District Court Thursday.

Edward Washington is the cousin of Kimani Washington, who is currently being held on $500,000 cash bail on gun and drug charges stemming from the Sept. 28 shooting deaths of Levaughn Washum-Garrison, Simba Martin, Eyanna Flonory, and her 2-year-old son, Amani Smith on Woolson Street.

Kimani Washington was arrested on Oct. 2 in Manchester, NH.

Moore is currently being held without bail.

Investigators urge anyone with information on the slayings, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to call the Boston Police Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.
