Menino Released From Hospital

BOSTON (CBS/AP) - Mayor Tom Menino has been released from the hospital.

His spokesperson Dot Joyce told WBZ-TV the mayor was released late Saturday morning from Brigham and Women's Hospital, where he was treated for a bacterial infection in his left elbow.

He returned to his home in Hyde Park and will continue to receive antibiotics.

Doctors believe Menino developed the infection after scraping his elbow during a visit to Italy last weekend, while he was attending a conference.

He was admitted to the hospital Tuesday and had a small operation to drain fluid from his arm.

Menino is 67 years old.

He is the longest-serving mayor in the city's history. He was re-elected a year ago to his fifth four-year term.
