Keller @ Large: A Movie To Escape Politics?

BOSTON (CBS) - Can Friday really, truly, finally have arrived?

I believe it has, and I don't know about you but after what we've all been through this week, I'm ready to get away from it all with a good movie.

But which one?

Let's go to the listings and see if there's anything playing that won't remind me of politics.

Let's see - I like going to the track - or at least, I used to when we still had racetracks around here - and I loved Secretariat when he won the Triple Crown way back when, but an entire movie about horse racing would, I'm afraid, remind me too much of what we've just suffered through.

So would "Waiting for Superman." It's going to be awhile before I'm interested in seeing a movie about the Massachusetts Republican Party.

Betty White and Jamie Lee Curtis are co-starring in "You Again," and I like both of them, but again, it's too soon for a movie about Governor Patrick's re-election.

I'm also not up for a film about professional controversy creator Sarah Palin, so I'll pass on "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest."

I won't mention the current movie that reminds me of Barney Frank's victory speech, but you can probably figure it out for yourself.

OK, here's a great cast, Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malcovich and Helen Mirren in "Red." But who wants to see a movie about the politics of flyover country, otherwise known as everything between Boston and San Francisco?

There's a new indie movie called "Conviction" that looks promising, I always like watching Hilary Swank work, but what if it turns out to be a documentary about Chuck Turner and Mrs. John Tierney? I couldn't stand that.

No, I guess it's another weekend of watching football and playing with Buddy the Lab. One thing about Buddy, give her a treat and she shows her gratitude. I can think of at least one local congressman who could stand to learn from her example.

You can listen to Keller At Large on WBZ News Radio every weekday at 7:55 a.m. and 12:55 p.m. You can also watch Jon on WBZ-TV News.
