UNH football player charged with rape
A University of New Hampshire defensive back is in jail and facing a charge of aggravated felonious sexual assault.
Durham, N.H., police say 19-year-old JeRome Wilkins of Baltimore was arrested Thursday after a two-month investigation.
He was ordered held for lack of $50,000 bail.
He's due in court Friday.
In a statement, UNH said Wilkins had been suspended from the team.
The UNH athletic web site says Wilkins served as a backup defensive back last season.
He sat out the 2008 season as a red-shirt.
Durham police did not provide any details of the allegations against Wilkins.
