WBZ-AM

Neighbors of a long-time Beacon Hill establishment meet to discuss a planned expansion.

It's been two months since a 4-alarm fire destroyed Deluca's Market and the Charles Street building remains boarded up.

Fixing the store appears to be hinging on a proposed expansion, that has some neighbors unhappy.

Even before the July 8th fire, owner Virgil Aiello proposed to add 600 square feet to his store.

The space located at 17 Branch Street, is currently vacant.

Aiello also proposed to raise the roof by about 8 feet to create an apartment above, however that proposal was denied.

Now, Aiello is proposing the same plan, hoping to include it in a master plan to create a "new" Deluca's.

Tom Clemens with the Beacon Hill Civic Association says some neighbors are not happy with the expansion plans.
