Driver in Newburyport parade crash cited
A 91-year-old man who hit three people with the minivan he was driving at the end of a parade in Newburyport has been cited by police.
Police say Harold Teague's minivan was not roadworthy when it lurched forward at the end of Sunday's Yankee Homecoming parade. Teague and two of the people he struck were hospitalized. They had all just watched the parade.
Authorities tell the Newburyport Daily News that Teague will be summoned to court to face a driving to endanger citation. Police say Teague and another family member knew of a mechanical problem with the minivan several days before the accident that made the vehicle unsafe to drive. Police did not specify the problem.
Teague's license was suspended after the accident.
