Papelbon Blows Save/Game vs. Yanks

The Red Sox came back from a 5 run deficit to take a 9-7 lead going into the 9th inning. Jonathan Papelbon (1-3) was called on for the save, but gave up a 2-run HR to Alex Rodriguez that tied the game, and a 2-run HR by Marcus Thames, that won it for the Yankees 11-9.

The Sox hit 5 HRs as a team; David Ortiz (7), J.D. Drew (6), Victor Martinez (4,5), and Kevin Youkilis (6) all went deep.

Daisuke Matsuzaka (2-1) went 4.2 innings giving up 7 earned runs on 9 hits, 3 BB, 3 K's. 5 of the 7 runs were allowed in the 1st inning.

The Sox and Yankees conclude their brief 2 game series Tuesday night with Josh Beckett vs. CC Sabathia.
