Sox Sign Cuban Catcher Ibarra

The Red Sox have signed 22-year-old Cuban catcher Adalberto Ibarra to a major league deal that is reportedly worth $4.3 million over five years. The Red Sox don't have a catcher under contract after the 2010 season. The Boston Herald reports that Ibarra will report to Fort Myers and the team will determine which minor league team he will play for. According to Cubanballplayers.com, which first reported the news, Ibarra is 5-foot-9 and weighs 200 pounds. He defected from Cuba last year.
