THE DEFENSE

Q: Hi Lisa. Thank you for participating in Defend Your Ride Boston. Great car. Love the Ford Focus. What made you choose it?

A: Work gave me a choice of this car or a Toyota. I chose the Ford because I've always had a lot of luck with Fords. It has a little more legroom and more cubic space than the Toyota, so since I'm in the car all the time, I wanted to maximize my space.

Q: How many hours a day are you in your car?

A: Normally, probably about four, maybe five. It depends on whether I'm traveling or not, and then I do 12 hours.

Q: How often do you travel for work?

A: Probably about once or twice a week I travel to Burlington, Vermont and back.

Q: Do you have stuff you like to do alone in the car?

A: The only thing I like to do alone in my car alone is read in-between meetings. When the sun comes in, it's warm, and I can just sit there and read, and kind of zone out. Most of the day is filled with talking to people, answering the phone, doing email. It's the one time of day that I can turn everything off, and just wait for a meeting.

Q: What are you doing at Pleasure Bay?

A: I have two dogs, a rottweiler named Mason and a coonhound named Winston. I usually drive my dogs here to take them for a walk. It's a nice relaxing place, where I can read, and it's pretty.

Q: Sounds like you live in your car. With two dogs, how is it so clean?

A: Work pays to have the car cleaned once a month. Every now and then, clients come in and you have to drive them to another place. You can't really have a messy car.

Q: What are you most proud of about your car?

A: Probably the color. It's a love/hate relationship. I love it because it's a talking point. People just laugh, and I can laugh, but at the same time, I'm like, "Yuck, that is just not me."

Q: If you don't like the color, how did you end up with this car?

A: When my company was buying us new cars, I could have picked my color. They go, "Here are the colors. Pick which one you want," and I said, "I don't know, I'll take blue." I didn't look up what color blue it was, and that's how I ended up with Debbie.

Q: Debbie? Is that a nickname?

A: Yes.

Q: Why do you call her Debbie?

A: Because she is Debbie Gibson blue. She's so obnoxiously electric blue that it reminds me of Debbie Gibson. Remember when they had all the neon blues and yellows, and everything in the '80s? For some reason I associate Debbie with the '80s. I feel like I should have my hair tinted.

Q: What's the best comment someone ever made about your car?

A: Wow, that's bright!
