Thai food blends sweet, savory and spicy magically into single dishes. Similans in East Cambridge is one of Boston’s favorites for Thai food. The pad thai is fantastic, but to get a little more spice, try the country pad thai, which is simply a spicy take on the traditional favorite. Want to up the spice game even more? The drunken noodles are no joke. The dish tastes delicious, but be warned, it will also have you breaking out in a sweat in no time!

Lonestar Taco is another top notch Tex-Mex restaurant in the area. Here, make sure to order the diablo margarita, the spice is just subdued enough to drink while still feeling a nice burn. The spiciest taco on the menu is probably the Dallas Spicy Beef, which comes with mushrooms and chilis and is one of the restaurant’s most popular menu items. And, if you want to make any of your food a bit more challenging, a side of house made pickled jalapenos is available for just $1.50!

Indian cuisine is another type of food known for bringing the heat. Boston doesn’t have tons of Indian restaurants, but the ones that do exist are fantastic; the best of which is Kashmir on Newbury Street in Boston’s Back Bay. Kashmir is conveniently located and has ample outdoor seating, which is great in such a picturesque neighborhood. As for spicy dishes, the Kashmir chefs can work to your preferences. The restaurant has a whole menu of curry dishes that can be ordered on a scale: regular, medium spicy, hot and spicy or extremely hot!

No list of spicy cuisines is complete without including Korean barbeque! Bon Chon is Boston’s best bet for spicy chicken. Chicken dishes can be ordered with delicious spicy sauce made with gochugaru, a traditionally made pepper powder. Or if you prefer a wasabi kind of spice, Bon Chon has a great sushi menu with all of the refreshing wasabi you could want. Bon Chon has two locations in greater Boston, one in Allston and one in Harvard Square, so there is no need to travel too far to get your hands on some deliciously spicy Korean barbeque.
