Boston's Best November Concerts

The most exceptional winter season tours at venues in and around Boston are in full swing. From classical to rock to jazz, there are plenty of shows to take in as the weather turns cold and the music scene continues to heat up. Look to The Wilbur in the theater district of Boston, the House of Blues in Harvard Square and to any number of eateries and function halls in the Boston area.

Quartet For-te will be performing selections by Dvorak, Beethoven and Converse for it's winter recital in Newton Centre, Boston. This brilliant foursome came together four years ago after working with the 35 seat orchestra "Symphony by the Sea" of Marblehead. Quartet For-Te ensemble players include: Loren Lee (violin), Caroline Lieber (violin) Karen McConomy (viola) & John Bumstead (cello). Each member is also a standalone artist with accolades of expertise much too long to list. This group is exclusive to the Boston area, available for master classes when not performing on stage. If this date in November is not open on your calendar, the quartet appears again in May for it's spring concert as well. Visit the website or the quartet's Facebook page often for future scheduling of appearances on the North Shore.

This famed guitarist of the late '60s shed his recluse status in 2010 to tour with Donald Fagen and Michael McDonald as the "Dukes of September Rythmn Revue." Just in case you may have missed "the Boz" while donning his Duke hat, here's your chance to catch him. This solo tour of his latest album, "Speak Low," returned Scaggs to the Billboard 200 permanently, slating the artist as a chart topper for all eternity. His latest tour shines the spotlight at the Lynn Memorial Auditorium just north of Boston. The mellow sound of this world renowned musician is signature Boz, creating his unique mark in the mainstream with "Silk Degrees" in 1976 and again in the year 2015 with "Speak Low."

Settle into jazz club mode with the sultry tones of blues and jazz guitar and special guest soloist Nancy MacCullum. Is this artist versatile? No question. Thanksgiving Brunch

Pianist Extraordinare Chris Gallivan will be performing Thanksgiving Day at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in Falmouth. After a rare performance earlier this month at the Blackthorne Publick House in Easton, the sought after pianist has graciously accepted an encore performance on Cape Cod.  Chris Gallivan's Liberace series is an assortment of contemporary, classical and original piano pieces found only on You Tube. Following this artist from his on-the-air appearances in the late 80's, to the Hollywood Bowl in the 1990's to present day, you'll find one unforgettable rendition after another, whether by his mastery on guitar or keyboard. This public performance is considered the preamble to his most recent symphonic project a "short attention span" symphony entitled "Ask" with four movements in four minutes. "Ask" anyone from the Southern shores of Boston to the tip of the California coast, Chris Gallivan performing piano live is a must see. This is one Thanksgiving brunch you don't want to miss!
