Bears Cause Separate Crashes On Busy Massachusetts Interstates

WARREN (CBS) – Two bears have caused trouble on Massachusetts roads in recent days.

On Thursday, Marion firefighters responded to a car into the woods after it struck a bear on Interstate 195. No further details about the crash were released.

A bear also caused a 3-car crash on the Mass Pike in Warren on Wednesday.

Massachusetts State Police responded to the eastbound side of the Pike after a car hit the bear.

A total of three cars were involved in the crash. One had to be towed.

No one was hurt in the crash, though the condition of the bear was not known.

According to the state, about 30-40 bears are hit by cars on an annual basis, with the majority on interstate or state highways.
