BEVERLY (CBS) – A plane went off a runway at Beverly Municipal Airport Wednesday afternoon. The FAA said the pilot, who is a student, was trying to take off when he swerved and wound up on the grass at about 4 p.m.
The pilot was the only person on board the single-engine Piper Cherokee and he was not injured. No damage was done to the aircraft.
The airport temporarily suspended operations on Runway 16 while Beverly Police and Fire responded.
