Injured Fisherman Rescued By Coast Guard 60 Miles Off Of Martha's Vineyard

BOSTON (CBS) -- An injured fisherman was rescued by the Coast Guard 60 miles southeast of Martha's Vineyard Friday evening. The Coast Guard said around 6 p.m. they were notified that a 50-year-old crewmember was having stroke-like symptoms on the commercial fishing boat Persistence.

A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter was sent to retrieve the man. They reached him at about 7:30 p.m.

He was taken to Providence Hospital to be treated.
