Brockton Man Charged With Murdering Woman Inside Framingham Apartment

FRAMINGHAM (CBS) – Police have charged a Brockton man with murder after a young woman in her 20s was found stabbed to death inside her Framingham home.

Police were called to an apartment on Interfaith Terrace at about 5:30 p.m. Monday to conduct a well-being check after a person close to the woman could not reach her. They found the woman with stab wounds.

The woman, later identified as 27-year-old Jamia Ammons-Maddrey, was pronounced dead inside her apartment.

Tuesday night, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Framingham Police Chief Steven Trask announced the arrest of 25-year-old Christopher McKoy. He is charged with murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.

McKoy was arrested in Boston, charged with allegedly removing a GPS monitoring device he was wearing from a case in Suffolk County. He is currently being held on an open case.

Next door neighbor Angelina Rust said she came home from work and was shocked to find police at the complex.

"When the cops told me, my soul left my body. She was my neighbor. Her bedroom is right next to my bedroom. I'm just stunned. It's just horrible. She was an innocent, young girl. No one should deserve that," Rust told reporters Tuesday. "She just was a very quiet person."

Other neighbors were just as shaken by what seemed to be such a sudden presence of police.

"I saw a lot of police, lot of police. They blocked the roads and nobody could go by," Hector Cruz said.

"It's scary especially everyone around here is family and to see this happen in this neighborhood with little kids is just really scary to see," Samantha Urbaez-Wilson explained.

City Councilman Edgardo Torres lives below Ammons-Maddrey's apartment.

"She was a really friendly young lady. Every time I've seen her it was a 'Good morning!' or 'Good afternoon!' Always cheerful with a smile," said Torres.

No arraignment date has been set for McKoy.
