Man Accused Of Killing Girlfriend With Piece Of Furniture In Manchester, NH

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP/CBS) — A New Hampshire man has been accused of killing his girlfriend by hitting her with a piece of furniture.

Authorities said police responded to a reported domestic disturbance at an apartment in Manchester on Tuesday. A woman called 911 from the apartment saying "Damien" was pounding on her door. When police arrived, they found 45-year-old Jennifer Burpee dead. They said they found her boyfriend, 35-year-old Damien Seace, hiding in a bathroom.

"There's certainly what seemed to be a domestic relationship involved here, the exact impetus of this event, what exactly caused it, what sparked it, that's something that we're looking into right now," said NH Senior Assistant Attorney General Benjamin Agati.

Seace was arrested on alternative counts of knowing and reckless second-degree murder in Burpee's death. Police said Burpee suffered blunt force trauma from a piece of furniture.

Some of neighbors now say they feel unsafe. "Now I don't want to be here," a woman said.

Seace awaited arraignment Wednesday; it wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer and a phone number couldn't be found for him.
