NOAA Team Aims To Reduce Right Whale Entanglement Deaths

BOSTON (CBS) – A group created to help reduce right whale deaths will meet in Rhode Island this week.

The Atlantic Large Whale Take Reduction Team will meet in Providence Tuesday through Friday.

The group was created by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to make recommendations on how to reduce right whale deaths due to incidental entanglement in fishing gear.

The fishing and lobster industries are closely watching the meeting for new fishing rules.
