1 Dead, 1 Wounded In Weymouth Shooting

WEYMOUTH (CBS) – One man was killed and another was wounded in a shooting at an apartment complex in Weymouth late Tuesday night.

The men were shot around 9:30 p.m. near an entrance to the Weymouth Commons on Rockway Avenue.

Both were rushed to South Shore Hospital.  A 26-year-old man, later identified as Nicky Gomes, died.

"The second shooting victim, also a man in his 20s, remains hospitalized and is expected to survive," the Norfolk District Attorney's Office said in a statement. His name was not made public.

There have been no arrests yet.

Investigators would not say how many suspects they're looking for.

This is the first homicide in Weymouth since Police Sergeant Michael Chesna and Vera Adams were killed in July.
