“We will conduct interviews with and run background checks on those interested, and we will only turn the dogs over to those whom we determine are the ‘right’ person or family for each dog’s forever home,” police said.

Police said the response has been “tremendous.” About 500 people expressed interest and the vetting process is underway.

Anyone who is interested in adopting the K-9s can contact Lt. Patrick Silva at Patrick.Silva@pol.state.ma.us.

Does the PD really have the expertise to place a dog with the correct home.

It’s not just a matter of a good home , it’s just as important to have the right home for the dog.
It’s match making.. they should consult a rescue on how to place the dog.
