Man Shot, Killed In Front Of School Bus In Roxbury

BOSTON (CBS) – A man was shot and killed in front of a school bus with elementary school students on board in Roxbury Thursday evening.

The shooting happened at Dearborn Street. Police fear kids on the school bus may have witnessed the shooting.

"I certainly hope they didn't but I think it's brazen when you're doing it out here on a busy street with a lot of young children riding home," Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said. "I hope for the sake of the young children they didn't see it but it goes to this being a brazen crime that we need the public to step up and help us solve this."

It all began with a fight that quickly got out of control when a gun came out and the victim was shot in the head. The suspect ran toward Dudley Station. No arrests have been made.

Boston Public Schools says the three students from the Harvard-Kent Elementary School and the bus driver were not injured. Crisis counselors will available for the students Friday.
