PLYMOUTH (CBS) — A 69-year-old man from Taunton drowned while fishing in a pond in Plymouth on Sunday.

Officials say the man was on a canoe on Curlew Pond in Myles Standish State Forest when he fell into the water.

Witnesses pulled the man out of the water and began administering CPR. Emergency crews took him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the man was not wearing a life vest.

The incident remains under investigation.
