Sullinger is currently a restricted free agent. He and the Celtics did not negotiate a new contract prior to last year’s deadline, with Sullinger’s agent saying that discussions never even took place. The Celtics — and team president Danny Ainge — have not been shy about the inconsistency they’ve seen from Sullinger in terms of staying in shape. The team ruled him out for the remainder of the 2015 season last February, yet he surprisingly returned before the end of the season, raising many eyebrows about the basis of that injury leave.
