BOSTON (CBS) – Hundreds lined up to watch a dress rehearsal a day before one of the biggest 4th of July celebrations in the country takes over the Boston Esplanade.
“We are so excited to be here today,” says one woman whose family drove up from Pennsylvania and spent Saturday sporting their red, white and blue.
They were first in the security line waiting to get to the Esplanade. Security is not allowing in coolers on wheels or bags that are not clear or considered a small purse.
The Boston Pops spent the afternoon running through a final sound check. One of the big acts performing, Little Big Town, warmed up their vocals.
Television cameras went through choreography preparing for tomorrow night’s national broadcast.
Surrounding all the glitz was plenty of security.
“The public has shown in the past they have been pretty keen in noticing things,” said Massachusetts State Police Major Dan Risteen. “And I don’t think anyone would regret making any notification upon seeing something that appeared suspicious.”
The Wolfe family didn’t mind. They are here for the Fourth of July celebration Sunday night and will be back again on Monday.
