Man's Body Recovered Off Quincy Coast
QUINCY (CBS) -- After searching for a man for about three hours, his body was recovered off the coast of Quincy Saturday night.
The search was launched from a boat dock at a marina in Hough's Neck. Several boats, operated by the U.S. Coast Guard, State Police and local police, and a helicopter were among those searching for the man.
Shortly before darkness set in, the man was found.
The man, who is in his 30s and has ties to Quincy, has not been identified. Police do not suspect foul play.
Investigators believe trouble with the boat may have led to the tragedy.
"What happened was the boat was approximately 100 feet off the (coast). There appeared to be some type of mechanical problem," says Quincy Police Captain John Dougan. "The male victim jumped into the water to check it. They think there was something caught on the propeller, (but) we're not sure yet.
"And when they turned around, he started to float away. We're not sure what happened yet. He may have struck his head."
The incident remains under investigation by police.
