BOSTON (CBS) — Echoing the famous children’s book, Boston Police blocked off the street with a cruiser to let ducklings big and small pass between Boston Common and the Public Garden–escorted by a big brass band–as part of Duckling Day festivities.
Sunday marked the 75th anniversary of Robert McCloskey’s book, ‘Make Way For Ducklings.’
Despite the rainy weather, it wasn’t just little kids who were dressing like ducks–even adults were taking part.
Mayor Marty Walsh didn’t wear a duck suit, but he did address the crowd, wishing mothers everywhere a happy Mother’s Day and thanking the Friends of the Public Garden for helping organize the event.
“This is perfect weather for ducks, I think,” said Mayor Walsh. “Maybe not for the big ducks that are walking around with you today, but the little ducks don’t mind it.”
