Belmont Police Remove Warning To Dog Owners About Man 'Pouring Antifreeze'
BELMONT (CBS) – Belmont police are no longer warning dog owners to be on the lookout for someone pouring antifreeze in a local park.
In a Facebook post, police said they had received "several reports" of a man walking around Pequossette Park off Trapelo Road "pouring antifreeze."
Someone then posted notices around town warning dog owners what to look for, saying "If your pet has been at a local park, keep an eye out for vomiting, diarrhea, drinking/urinating a lot and other gastrointestinal issues, as well as disorientation and less commonly seizures."
Belmont's animal control officer told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Karyn Regal Thursday they looked into the reports and they turned out to be false.
They do not know who posted the flyers.
Belmont police removed the post from their Facebook page Thursday morning.
"The BPD investigation into this incident did not reveal any evidence that antifreeze was spread at the Pequossete Park," police chief Richard McLaughlin said in a statement Thursday.
