ORANGE (CBS) — Two people died and three were hurt in a house fire Saturday afternoon in Orange.

The fire broke out at the single-family home on Mechanic Street around 4:42 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found a significant fire on the second floor of the house.

Three people are in the hospital and their current condition is unknown.

Police haven’t identified the victims.

A spokeswoman with the State Fire Marshal’s Office says the origin and cause of the blaze is being investigated by Orange Fire and Police.

State Police assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office are also assisting with the investigation, she said.
