Man Pinned After Crashing SUV Into West Bridgewater House
WEST BRIDGEWATER (CBS) – A man will be charged after he crashed his SUV into a West Bridgewater home and was pinned underneath the vehicle.
The SUV caused significant damage to a small house on Matfield Street after a crash just after 6:30 a.m. on Friday.
Firefighters could be seen working to remove the driver from under the front of the SUV. He had been ejected during the crash.
It is not clear what caused the SUV to crash into the home.
Police say the driver, whose identity has not been released, faces criminal and possibly civil charges.
John Eckstrom, the homeowner's son, told WBZ-TV's Susie Steimle that his mother was woken up by the crash.
"It's always been a bad stretch of road. There's a bad corner right there. We're just fortunate someone wasn't hit head on," Eckstrom said.
According to Eckstrom, the driver hit a telephone pole, a tree, then the front of the house.
Police say the man's arm was pinned underneath the SUV. He suffered a serious arm injury and was taken by MedFlight to a Boston hospital.
Eckstrom said that while the home is damaged, he's just glad his mother was not injured.
"It's nothing we can't fix," Eckstrom said. "She's OK. That's the big thing."
