Phantom Gourmet: Creative Cauliflower Cravings

BOSTON (CBS) -- You might be surprised to find out that cauliflower has become a hot new ingredient at many local restaurants.

For a healthier alternative to chicken wings, G Bar and Kitchen in Swampscott serves buffalo cauliflower.

At Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza in Westwood and Reading, the popular toppings range from pepperoni's, meatballs, roasted cauliflower with mozzarella, and toasted bread crumbs.

The Charlie Horse in West Bridgewater has long been a place for burgers and buffalo chicken dip, but their newest menu includes "firecracker cauliflower" dipped in tempura batter and tossed in a sweet chili sauce.

You can also check out the Italian style cauliflower at La Motta's in the South End, oven-roasted cauliflower from "The Loft" in North Andover, and butter poached lobster over truffle cauliflower puree at "Strip by Strega" in the Park Plaza Hotel.
