WEYMOUTH (CBS) – A man police say was under the influence of alcohol and drugs when he struck and seriously hurt a man in Weymouth, can be seen on cell phone video falling face-first into the pavement while taking his field sobriety test.

Thomas Mohan, 51, allegedly hit another car and a 39-year-old Weymouth man outside a shopping center on Route 53 Tuesday afternoon.

A witness said Mohan was "belligerent" following the crash.

The man who was hit has life threatening injuries and is being treated at South Shore Hospital.

Video from a nearby business shows Mohan falling face first onto the ground while police officers conducted field sobriety tests after the crash.

"The driver of the minivan was quite upset and obviously under the influence, arguing with the police," witness Michael Hartigan told WBZ-TV.

"I'm in a little bit of shock right now. He's just been going through a bad time. That's all I can say right now," the woman said.

Mohan is currently under arrest at South Shore Hospital.

He is charged with operating under the influence of alcohol with negligent operation causing serious bodily injury, operating under the influence of drugs and marked lanes violations.
