Danny Ainge On Toucher & Rich: Celtics' Goal Is To Become A Championship Team

BOSTON (CBS) -- Celtics GM Danny Ainge joined Toucher & Rich to discuss the upcoming trade deadline as well as the team's recent run of success.

Even though a new trade rumor seems to pop up every hour, Ainge said not to hold your breath on a trade at this point.

"Nothing's imminent," said Ainge.

The last time Ainge joined the show, he went on record to say that the Celtics couldn't win a championship as currently constructed. Despite winning 10 of the last 12 games, Ainge stood by that statement.

"I don't think that we're on the same level as Cleveland, San Antonio and Golden State," said Ainge. "I do believe the extraordinary is possible, and we're trying to find a way to improve our team without mortgaging the future or taking unnecessary risks.."

While there's nothing imminent as of now, Ainge is willing to hear offers for anyone.

"Until we become a championship-caliber team, I guess nobody's not ever tradable," said Ainge. "But there's a lot of guys on our roster right now that we have no intention of moving."

This includes the highly coveted Brooklyn Nets pick. However, it would take quite a bit for other teams to acquire it.

"I can't take it off the table but it's going to be tough to get," said Ainge.

Ainge made it very clear that he is excited about the direction of the team, but stressed that he will be careful in balancing a "win now" attitude with an eye on the team's future.

He also added that the team may have dodged a bullet on the injury front as Kelly Olynyk's shoulder injury appears to only be a bruise.
