Brockton High Student Hit By Pickup Truck While Walking To School

BROCKTON (CBS) -- A Brockton High School student suffered minor injuries after she was struck by a pickup truck while walking to school Thursday morning.

The freshman was walking on Belmont Street near the school's entrance shortly after 7a.m. when she was hit, according to fire officials. The driver of the truck stopped immediately.

The student was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The high school's principal plans to speak to students about pedestrian safety, a spokesperson for Brockton Public Schools told WBZ-TV. School administrators also plan to call parents to discuss personal safety measures.
