Attention Pastry Lovers
Hungary is a pastry lover's playground, and I daresay that the level of nuance and artisanship in the pastries that Central Europe produces will awe folks who go ga-ga over the pastry in Boston's North End. A single pastry can give one multiple taste and consistency experiences. For example, here is a treat known as the Gellert Pudding. Outside is a delicate ribbon of red and white striped chocolate, inside is sort of a cross between a cake and a mousse, and on top is a Creme Brulee effect. It is garnished with a liquid centered chocolate ball on the top.
And many pastry shops, like this one in my hotel, provide an upscale old world environment in which to enjoy your complex confection. Would you care for a coffee with that? Or perhaps a brandy?
