Bella Bond's Father Had Needles In Pocket During Shoplifting Arrest

BOSTON (CBS) – Police say the biological father of "Baby Doe" Bella Bond had hypodermic needles in his pocket when he was arrested for shoplifting in Boston.

A police report from the Tuesday afternoon incident at Home Depot on All State Road in Boston alleges that Joe Amoroso put several items in a shopping cart and tried to leave the store with them without paying.

When officers searched him, they found multiple needles in Amoroso's pockets.

After police arrested him, Amoroso allegedly said "Do you know who I am? I'm Baby Doe's dad. Now you can tell everyone you arrested baby Bella's father."

Amoroso was charged with larceny over $250.

Police said there is surveillance video capturing Amoroso attempting to steal the items.

He was arraigned Wednesday morning on the charges.

The judge released Amoroso on $200 bail. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 21.
