Whale Stranded Off Kingston Shore

KINGSTON (CBS) -- A whale that became stranded off the coast of Kingston Monday afternoon is now free and back in deeper water.

A spokesman for the New England Aquarium said the adult whale that got stranded is a Minke whale, which is a very popular breed on whale watching tours.

Adult Minke whales are about 25 to 30 feet long and silver in color.

Strandings can sometimes indicate underlying health issues in whales, according to the aquarium.
