Patriots Reportedly Sign Josh Kline To 2-Year Extension
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots have reportedly locked up one of Tom Brady's more unsung protectors.
The team has signed guard Josh Kline to a two-year extension, according to ESPN's Field Yates. The deal keeps Kline on the New England offensive line until 2017, and will reportedly pay him a base of $3.3 million with a maximum of $4.9 million.
The Patriots signed Kline as an undrafted free agent in 2013, and though he started the season on the practice squad he stepped in when the New England offensive line was hit with injuries. Kline played in seven games that season, starting one, and helped stabilize the New England offensive line after a rocky start to the 2014 season.
Kline was New England's starting left guard for their 2015 season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers and has started eight games during the 2015 season. He has played in 27 games for the Patriots over his two-plus seasons with the team.
