Patriots-Jaguars Injury Report: Wendell To Miss Third Straight Game

BOSTON (CBS) -- The New England Patriots will be without Ryan Wendell for the third straight week.

The offensive lineman has been declared out for Sunday's matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars after he missed all three days of practice this week with an illness. Wendell has now missed the last four practice sessions.

Wendell spoke to reporters on Friday, and said the illness is a "personal medical issue." He did not get into specifics, but said the situation is "out of his hands" as he awaits medical clearance from doctors.

He doesn't know when he'll be able to return to action, but sounded optimistic on Friday.

"Football is always on my mind," said Wendell. "I'm excited to get back. The big story is all the guys that have been playing and doing all the hard work. I think they're doing a great job and I'm excited to get back out there with them."

Without Wendell and center Bryan Stork, who will miss the first eight weeks of the season, rookie David Andrews will likely get his third straight start at center when the Patriots take on the Jaguars.

Also on Friday's injury report, the Patriots declared defensive lineman Dominique Easley (hip) as questionable for Sunday's game. Linebacker Dont'a Hightower (shoulder), corner Logan Ryan (shoulder) and defensive lineman Trey Flowers (knee) are all probable for the tilt. Both Hightower and Ryan were full participants in Friday's practice after being limited on Wednesday and Thursday.

The 2-0 Patriots host the 1-1 Jaguars at 1pm on Sunday.
