BOSTON (CBS) — Love lobster? Well, Chef Jasper White wrote the book on it.

And at his Summer Shack restaurants, he serves up plenty of succulent lobster, and everything else the ocean has to offer, in a fun and laid back atmosphere.

“When people walk into Summer Shack, the first thing they see is a lobster tank. So I think that sends a subliminal or not so subliminal message to people that it’s a seafood place,” White says. “They see a lot of people smiling and the people are having fun. And I think they pick up on the vibe of casual fun.”

In fact a meal at the Shack feels a lot like a day at the beach.

“I grew up on the Jersey Shore, I’ve always had a penchant for the clam shacks of New England, and I created a restaurant that is inspired by the clam shacks,” White says. “And we have all the same foods you would find at any clam shack.”

So there are fried clams, lobster rolls, and clambake dinners, plus homemade corn dogs and the best fried chicken you’ll ever eat.

“And a lot of people come to the Summer Shack just to get the fried chicken,” White says.

Of course there are also plenty of higher end dishes from this legendary chef, and everything coming out of the kitchen holds true to Jasper’s belief that ‘Food is Love’.

“I look at food as more than something we just throw on a plate and try to make money off of. It’s something that effects all of us and, it’s all done with love,” White says.
