Dog Rescued From 35-Foot Medfield Well

MEDFIELD (CBS) -- Rescuers retrieved a dog that fell down a 35-foot dry well in Medfield Tuesday afternoon.

Vedder the dog was seen wagging its tail after it was pulled from the dry well off Elm Street.

Firefighters worked for more than an hour to rescue him.

Video of Norfolk County Technical Rescue retrieving Vedder from a 40 foot deep well in Medfield. Avon sent Chief Spurr and the Technical Rescue Trailer to assist.

Vedder's owner Kemper Dorsey said he knew something was wrong when he called for Vedder and he didn't come. Dorsey followed to howls to the hole.

"I saw his eyes glowing and I knew it was him right away," he said.

The condition of the dog wasn't immediately known, one fire department on the scene called the rescue a success.
