Man Sought In Bourne Hit-And-Run Turns Himself In

BOURNE (AP) — Police in Bourne say a man wanted in a weekend hit-and-run that seriously injured another man has turned himself in.

Officials said 65-year-old Charles McKeen III of Pocasset came peacefully to the police department at about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

He will be arraigned Wednesday in Falmouth District Court on charges including attempted murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and driving violations. It's not immediately known if he has lawyer to comment.

Police said McKeen and an acquaintance argued before McKeen intentionally struck the 68-year-old man with a van and fled Sunday morning. The man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

Earlier Tuesday, state police found McKeen's van abandoned in Charlemont in western Massachusetts. Investigators then learned McKeen was headed back to eastern Massachusetts.
