HYANNIS (CBS) -- Barnstable police say a 24-year-old Marston Mills woman was in illegal possession of fireworks estimated to be worth more than $7,000 in Hyannis.

On Friday, the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal's Office contacted Hyannis Fire Department about a large fireworks purchase.

The women allegedly making the purchase were driving a rented cargo van and planned to bring the fireworks to Hyannis. Barnstable police were also notified.

After area police were notified about the vehicle, State Police spotted the van traveling east on Route 6 between exits 4 and 5.

Police stopped the vehicle which was driven by Kayla Majors. The passenger was a 24-year-old Hyannis woman who police have not identified.

The van was carrying a large amount of fireworks.

The fireworks were seized and taken to the Barnstable police station, where they were secured.

Police say Majors will receive a court summons for illegal possession of fireworks.
