HOPKINTON (CBS) — There were no passengers on board when a bus caught fire on the ramp from the Mass Pike to I-495 north on Monday morning, Massachusetts State Police said.

The driver was able to get out of the charter bus safely, according to police.

The ramp to I-495 in Hopkinton was closed as the fire was extinguished shortly before 11 a.m.

The AA Transportation bus was based out of Shrewsbury.

Earlier in the morning, the bus was transporting passengers when the driver reported mechanical problems. All passengers on board continued the trip on a replacement bus.
