Everett Man Charged With Stealing Ambulance From Hospital

GREENFIELD (CBS) – A man was arrested in western Massachusetts after police say he stole an ambulance from a hospital parking lot.

Police said 25-year-old Kyle Suprenard of Everett had recently been released from Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield and was seen walking around the parked ambulances just before 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Employees of the ambulance company came to the area and saw Suprenard sitting in the driver's seat of one of the vehicles.

As an ambulance employee approached Suprenard, he allegedly pulled away, driving over the sidewalk and nearly hitting another car.

Not long after police were called, Suprenard drove back to the parking lot.

The Everett resident, who police said was acting erratically in the parking lot when officers arrived, was arrested for disorderly conduct and using the ambulance without authority.

When police searched Surprenard, they found a small bag of ketamine in his wallet. He was charged with possession of a Class A substance.

Suprenard's bail was set at $500 and he is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.

No one was injured during the incident and there was no damage done to the ambulance.
