“I applaud the actions of the student in bringing this to our attention,” Braintree Police Chief Russell Jenkins said. “If you ‘see something, say something’ never rang more true.”

Police found the loaded 9mm handgun in the boy’s locker. He is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and other related offenses.

“Our investigation is ongoing,” Chief Jenkins said, “but it would appear that this was an isolated matter and there are no indications that any other students are involved.”
