WEST ROXBURY (CBS) --  Iris Sonnenschein, the owner of a Shih Tzu-poodle was dog napped Thursday in West Roxbury, is happy the 48-hour ordeal is over.

"He was very dirty and very tired and very hungry," Sonnenschein said. "He gave us the silent treatment. I think he was a little ticked off at us."

Pooh the dog was inside a car stolen Thursday afternoon.

Animal Care and Control Animal Shelter in Roslindale called her Saturday after a Boston man dropped off a dog that matched Pooh's description.

Erika, a dog walker, told WBZ that her Subaru was stolen with Pooh sleeping inside while she tended to another dog inside a West Roxbury home.

Haverhill police were called to Pecker Street at about 6:50 a.m. Saturday. Detective Captain Robert Pistone says that an unidentified person who saw on the news that a 2011 Subaru was reported stolen from Boston with a dog in it and that it was possibly parked on that street.

Officers found a man and woman sleeping in a parked gray 2011 Subaru Outback with Massachusetts license plates in front of a Pecker Street home. After learning the car was stolen, they were arrested.

However, the dog was not inside the car at the time of the arrest.

Sonnenschein says she is thankful for the help she received finding her beloved dog.

"This is a really good ending to this weekend that started off horribly," she said. "It is the best outcome you could hope for."
